“Unfortunately, that is confidential, even though you are her family member. She did not permit me to speak with anyone else about her condition.”
“Her condition?” Zach said blankly.
The doctor took a deep breath. “You are kind to worry about her,” he told Zach, “but remember, she is an adult now—independent. There is no need to be this worried.”
“All right.” Zach didn’t agree, but he wanted to get out of there now. There was only one option left to him, and that was to tell Philip and Jane. Of course, maybe Resa would be at the church—no, that was unlikely. If she was feeling well enough to do that, why would she have gone there early rather than coming down to breakfast as usual?
The doctor seemed to understand that Zach wasn’t really going to listen to him. He sighed and said, “All right. Good morning.”
“Thanks,” Zach said, and left the building.
Comments: I was hoping for another speedy morning, but oh well. I finished my book last night, so it's not as much of a sacrifice to work during lunch. I am so glad I still get to read this month -- it helps my writing so much when I read something else that's really good. Time to get to work, though. Basically, no major novel crises so far (knock on wood!) and I'm grateful
for that.
